Advisements are used to target individuals that find their product appealing. This compels viewers to buy the latest technology gadget or to wear the latest fashion clothes. Media has also changed the way we communicate and this has improved our culture in many ways. For example, in the recent years it has been possible to connect on real time with someone across the world through a computer. Now we are able to connect with people through a simple device like the IPhone 4S. The IPhone 4S lets a person talk through face time and allows them to see each other. Visual media has also made a huge impact on young children and teenagers. With all the new artists coming out changing the music and media culture the younger generation is looking up to them more each day. The younger generations view these artists as role models and want to be exactly like them. The music industry has changed media forever. Artists have introduced us to many different cultures and their music as well. Artist like Lady gaga have paved the road for young adults not to be afraid to speak up or reach high for their dreams. Beyoncà © has also paved the road for woman all over the world to feel empowered by their femininity and stand strong. Centuries ago women could not freely express themselves the way they do now. In addition, this has helped shaped a new lifestyle for many of us. The media provides full coverage of the lavish life styles of the many celebrities we have in this generation. People have lost the value of simple things in life and try grasp for the lavish life. In Addition, visual media also informs us of the news around the world. The news teaches us about the different cultures and that has impacted our culture tremendously. Visual media  continues to change every day; there is always something new and updated coming out. Visual entertainment has had many positive and negative social influences. One way that visual media influenced our culture in a negative way is by blind imitation. The media portrays an image for the viewers on how a rich and glamorous life is the way to live. Several people are so blinded by this that they try their best to live lavishing lives without having means to. For example, Heidi Montag is a celebrity who became popular after completing her first real life show called Laguna Hills. She became caught up in glamorous life that she eventually wanted more fame. She then decided she wanted to look like Barbie and had 10 plastic surgeries in just one day! Fox news wrote an article about Heidi Montag and what appeared to be her addiction to plastic surgery. In an Internet video, Fox News (2010) states that â€Å"When reality TV show star Heidi Montag announced last week that she had undergone 10 plastic surgeries, all in one day, the news was met with some (naturally) raised eyebrows. But she’s not alone in her obsession to look perfect by enduring multiple cosmetic enhancements, a phenomenon that has the makings of an addiction, or at least a binge behavior, experts say.† The media often sends messages to their viewers that skinny, resembling a celebrity, and living a luxurious lifestyle is the way to live. The media also promotes unhealthy lifestyles such changing you’re eating habits to become thinner. Another negative social influence caused by social media is media addiction. Several people become addicted to visual media. Many people are now glued to their television, reading celebrity gossip, or just surfing for hours. This influences especially teenagers who might come across information that they are not able to understand in that age. Visual media also overwhelms its viewers with information that might now possibly be truthful. Not too many people spend the necessary time to find out if that information is authentic. This is how many of us become influence by visual media. We believe everything that is shown on television or put on the Internet. However, visual media does have its positive social influences. Mass media can help you reach many people across the world. We are now able to face time chat online with a family member in New York while  you are in California. Visual media keeps us informed of global news as well as local news. Visual media has also made it possible for some individuals to work from home. For example, people that work from home are now able to have conference face time calls online. Visual media has also made it possible for people like me to go to school online and obtain a degree. In conclusion, visual media reflects and influences social behavior and attitudes. People become influenced by what the media’s message is and it influences their behavior and attitudes. Visual media sometimes influence violence as well as kindness. We see on television many tragic stories that broadcast uncensored for the viewers to see. However, the media also broadcasts the help people volunteer when there is a tragedy. The media influences people behaviors and attitudes by portraying different images. For example, if you are watching a love story on television you will automatically think that people do act like that in real life. Whether it is Twilight or True blood the media gathers people watching these series and that influences people’s behaviors at that moment. Chapter Reflection

I can definitely see myself using some of the stuff that I read about in this chapter in my true classroom. The first section of this chapter was all about the deferent levels of curriculum integration. I learned that there are three different levels of integration: connected, shared, and partnered. The least complicated of the three is â€Å"connected†, and would lust Involve me, as the teacher, making simple connections between two subject areas.I think that this would involve me looking at two subjects and then finding the common ground that they share so that I could reinforce knowledge from one subject In another. The second level would be â€Å"shared†, which would Involve taking salary incepts in two or more subjects and reinforcing them in each of the subjects. You want to be able to reinforce something in one subject, and do the same thing for the other. The keyword Is â€Å"share†. I learned that the last level, â€Å"partnered†. Is often the mos t difficult. It would be the most difficult because it involves a team of teachers discussing the same big ideas.I think that this would be difficult because each teacher In the team might have a different Idea about what would be best and It might be difficult to keep what is most important at the center of the discussion. Integration can definitely be hard, but it is doable. The next section of the chapter talked about devising your own cross-disciplinary topics. The big thing about this section was the matrix that was included to help us think about cross-disciplinary studies so that we can create our own topic connections.When filling out the matrix, It will become easier to see where commonalities may lie. Some links will come easily to us, but I think that this matrix will definitely be of use to me in the future. Matrixes and tables always have a way of making things easier to observe and understand. This Is Just the most basic, and the rest of the chapter got a little more t echnical and specific with ideas. The next big section of this chapter was about interdisciplinary examples for linking physical education content to other subjects.For math, we could do things like ask students to find their maximum heart rate that they reached after Jumping rope, or ask students about what shapes they can draw using the lines of a basketball court. With language arts, children could read books based on movement or games, which would help students make links with physical education, or we could also have them write â€Å"l can† sentences that talk about things that they can do in the ball below my waist, and by keeping my head up. We could incorporate physical education with science by having the students hop into the air, and then ask them why they come down after they Jump. With social studies, we could do things like ask students how games that we play in the US are different than the way they are played in other countries, or we could ask our students to think about things that they do after school and then whether or not they were available to children 30 years go. It is very important for connections to be made because, when they are, students are more likely to learn and retain information.They're also more likely to learn when they're having fun and enjoying themselves. If we can find a way for them to do this and become more physically fit, then that is always a bonus! The last section of this chapter was about how you can apply classroom study topics to physical education lessons. There were lots of different ideas listed in this section as well. After reading all of the ideas and suggestions that were presented in his chapter, it only confirmed what I believed before. Children are more likely to learn when they're having fun.When you incorporate classroom topics into physical education, children may think they're being given the chance to play when, in reality, they're also learning. The more we can do this, the better! I de finitely plan on using some of the ideas from this section in the future. The ideas put forth in this chapter were very useful to me. I plan on being creative and, in the future, taking some of these ideas and expanding on them to make them my own. I firmly believe that the more active we can get our students, the better.Over to You 1) I would say that I am the most creative in finding a way to make something work. If something doesn't work, I try everything I can to achieve the end result that I want or the ideal end result. Sometimes it may not be the most conventional way of doing things, but my somewhat creative mind gets the Job done that way. I also like making things look pretty, and I have found that I will often find a creative way to make something stand out. I think it definitely has an advantage in finding connections.It will help me look for similarities between two subjects and then find a way to bring them together based on their common ground. I'm a believer that the re is usually always a way to make something work. 2) To find ideas about cross-disciplinary learning, I could talk to my teachers and fellow colleagues, especially those who have been around in the profession longer than a new teacher has. They know what works and what doesn't work, and could be a great source of ideas and advice. Academic Journals could also be a good source of information and ideas. You want to get your students up and moving in any way that you possibly can. You can also have your students look at how certain popular games here in the US (such as baseball and basketball) might be played differently in other countries, and then have the students attempt to play the games being physically active. 4) I think that, for me, it would be easier to take classroom epics and apply them to physical education lessons.I could take my students on nature walks. I could also strive to plan more lessons and activities for the classroom that would get them to become more active. I think it's definitely easier for me to incorporate physical education into the classroom. It gives me an avenue through which I can be very creative, and I love that. I also think that it would help me to become more active as well, as I would have to kind of go through the motions to find out what would work best with my students and what wouldn't.

The story is about a young couple that attempts murder twice, committing it once. The story is told by a lawyer that works in a small town in Mississippi. He meets a devout Christian and solid citizen, Mr. Savage. On March 7th, 1995, Sarah and Ben, a young couple on a road trip, entered Mr. Savage’s office and shot and killed Mr. Savage. They took his credit cards and cash. There were no witnesses. The couple made their way down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Running low on cash, Sarah entered a convenience store and shot the 35 year old mother that was working that night. She then took the money from the register. The clerk survived but was completely paralyzed. An anonymous informant identified Sarah from the video from the convenience store. Sarah and Ben were sent to trial. Sarah blamed Ben. She said that the movie Natural Born Killers brainwashed them and lead them to work out their â€Å"demons†. She said she didn’t see a 35 year old mother. She said she saw a demon so she shot her. Sarah is likely seeing a life sentence and Ben may see a death sentence. The lawyer from the Mississippi town believes that the maker of the movie is to blame for these crimes. There have been other murders that were linked to people watching the movie. The voice of Grisham is shown towards the end of the story where he calls for the writer of the movie to be tried in court.

Because of numerous aspects of culture has received particular attention. Hofstedes main research on national culture is principally describe in cultures consequences. The work of Hofstede stands out for the connection of design activities to national culture and organizational forms. His primary data were extracted from a pre-existing bank of employee attitude surveys undertaken around 1967 and 1973 within IBM subsidiaries in 66 countries is the basis for a significant theoretical explanation of the influence of culture on information system design. Geerd Hofstede developed four dimensions of culture such as uncertainty voidance, masculinity, power distance, and individuality influence in information system design. In addition, he compared the designs of geographic information systems in German and US countries. Because of the wealth of data and deep theoretical interpretation, his work has received much attention in the field than other fields Hofstede tried to examine the role of national culture in information system design. He constructed his model on review of sociological theories and work including Kluckho HN (1952, 1961), Parson (1951), Parson and Shils and Weber. In addition, Hofstedes model has been widely used in management research. Hofstedes four dimensions of national culture including: à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Uncertainty avoidance: the extent to which future possibilities are defend against or accepted Power distance: the degree if inequality of power between a person at a higher level and a person at a lower level. Individualism: the relative importance of individual goals. Compared with group or collective goals. Masculinity: the extent to which the goal of men dominate those of women. Uncertainty avoidance is the focus on information systems in decision support systems. It is considered with power distance because of interaction effects. On the other hand, individualism and masculinity have little importance and relevance to German and US countries. According to Hofstede, in Germany and the USA, both characterized by low power distance, there are two possible ways to keep organizations to gather and reduce uncertainty. Results show that competitive environment as well as the nature of itself affects the impact that culture values will have over the transfer process. Cases of obesity in the UK are on the increase among school going children, and this is setting a bad precedent for their future. The country can intervene in this situation through establishing public policies that encourage physical exercises. For instance, school based physical education (PE) programs are good examples (Pate, 2006). Such programs would ensure that a curriculum of vigorous physical exercises is esteemed and followed strictly. School administrators would be required to increase the amount of time allocated to physical activities (Alderman, 2009). States can also increase civil education initiatives that can be used to change cultural attitudes towards physical activity and obesity. People usually associate an increased body weight with prosperity, and those with lean bodies are regarded as being unhealthy. Such mindsets usually encourage people to eat high calorie foods while making them to lead a sedentary lifestyle. State interventions would therefore encourage citizens to involve in physical exercises while disregarding such retrogressive cultures. The US government may also invest in zoning, in which government policy can make it mandatory for people to involve in physical activities. (Pate, 2006). These programs would ensure that citizens use stairs rather than elevators when making movements in tall buildings. I returned to India after a long period and at the airport I hear an announcement saying â€Å"Welcome, Mumbai me aapka swagat he!’ these words took me back to my college days where we used to communicate in hinglish- the merger of English and other Indian vernacular languages†¦. I was pleasantly surprised to hear ‘MUMBAI’- as when I had left it was called Bombay though the original name of the city was Mumbai named after the Goddess Mumbadevi. With migration of people from North India Mumbai became Bumbai, during the British raj it became Bombay and remained for a long period before rechristened as Mumbai. When we friends used to meet we would say –‘Hey dude, kaisa he?’ (Hey dude, how are you?) While placing the order in the canteen we used to say ‘Hey boss, do cutting chai.’ (Two half teas) People in India are growing up in a multilingual surrounding, resulting in code mixing (mixing of two or more languages). What is the reason behind code mixing? India is a developing country and only few people are fluent in English, with most people have their education in vernacular medium. Which leads to either reshaping the English syntax with Hindi words or simply the other way round. Hinglish has gained a lot of importance in India as it is the language of the masses and every individual can relate himself with the language. For the same reason many advertises and movies use Hinglish. Many multinational giants use Hinglish version of its international campaign to make their brands more acceptable and popular among Indian masses. Mc Donald’s campaign’ What your bahana is?’(Whats your excuse?) Coca-colas strap line ‘life... ... and judiciary use a lot of hinglish on daily basis. I remember an incident when I had gone to the passport office for my passport renewal an officer told me ’please, appka passport submit karo’.
